Columbia For You is a zoning update process for the City of Columbia, Tennessee. As we look to update the regulations that guide development and redevelopment in the City, we want to engage with the community in a conversation about the future of Columbia.

Don't know much about zoning? That's ok! Zoning affects the entire community, and through this process, 'well help you understand why. All of the events held as part of this process are open to the public, and are a great way to learn more AND make sure your voice is heard!

The goal of this project is to update the City's Zoning Ordinance (also referred to as the "Code") and to create a design guideline manual. Consultants from Town Planning & Urban Design Collaborative, LLC (TPUDC) will be assisting the City with this process by producing a diagnosis of the existing Code, reviewing the City's other land use and subdivision regulations, developing a public outreach strategy to engage the community in the process, and drafting the updated Zoning Ordinance for staff and public review. The final result will be a document that is understandable and implementable, and that helps the community achieve the goals set forth in "Connect Columbia," the City's Comprehensive Plan.

On this site, you will find information on the process and you will be able to provide your input during various phases of the project. We look forward to engaging with you, the Columbia community.

Is there a plan to change zoning for places like Galloway Street? Interested in land that runs parallel to the railroad on Galloway to build single family home, however, old zoning regulations have it zoned for industrial due to railway.

    Kayla,

    Thank you for your question.

We are certainly looking at the existing zoning districts throughout the entire city and will have recommendations and strategies to help with properties just like the one you are referring to.

Thank you again for taking time to comment and look forward to  your continued participation.
